Is the Davis Method scientifically proven?

David is happy to discuss the Davis approach, available research resources, and whether a program may be appropriate for your needs during a free consultation. Individual results vary.

How is the Davis Method different from tutoring?

Davis® programs are not traditional tutoring. Rather than simply providing more practice with academic material, David works one-on-one with clients using the tools and techniques of the appropriate Davis® program. The goal is to help clients develop greater understanding, awareness, and practical tools they can continue using beyond their time working directly with David.

Is the Davis Method the same as the Orton-Gillingham approach?

No. Orton-Gillingham and the Davis Method are different educational approaches. Orton-Gillingham generally emphasizes structured, sequential, multisensory phonics instruction. Davis® programs use a different approach that incorporates visual, spatial, hands-on, and individualized learning strategies. Different approaches may be appropriate for different learners, and David can discuss whether the services offered through Dyslexia Correction Specialties may be a good fit during the consultation.

How long does a Davis program take?

The Davis® Mastery for Dyslexia Program is typically delivered as an intensive, individualized program, while other programs may have different schedules and time requirements. During the consultation, David will discuss the appropriate program, expected schedule, and what participation would look like for you or your child.

What age range do you work with?

David works with children, teens, and adults. For younger children, David is licensed to provide the Davis® Foundations for Reading Program. For older children, teens, and adults, David will help determine which of the programs offered through Dyslexia Correction Specialties is most appropriate based on the individual's needs and goals.

Do you work with adults, or only children?

David works with adults as well as children and teens. Adults come to Dyslexia Correction Specialties for many different reasons, including long-standing challenges with reading, learning, attention, or other areas addressed by the Davis® programs David provides. Services are individualized, and the consultation is the best place to discuss your specific needs and goals.

Can programs be done remotely?

Some services may be available remotely, depending on the specific program and the individual client. David also provides in-person services in Riverside, California. During your consultation, David will discuss whether in-person or remote services are appropriate and available for the program being considered.

What happens after the program ends?

Recommendations for continued practice and follow-up will depend on the specific program and individual needs. David remains available to discuss appropriate next steps and additional support when needed.

There is no pressure or commitment.

Do I need a formal diagnosis before starting?

A formal diagnosis is not necessarily required to contact David or explore services through Dyslexia Correction Specialties. During the consultation, David can discuss the challenges you or your child are experiencing and whether one of the educational programs he provides may be appropriate. Dyslexia Correction Specialties does not provide medical or psychological diagnosis.

How much do programs cost?

Question 13

Is the Davis Method covered by insurance?

Accepted Answer

Services provided through Dyslexia Correction Specialties are educational services, not medical or therapeutic treatment, and are generally not covered by health insurance. Some clients may be able to use eligible FSA or HSA funds depending on their individual plan and circumstances. Please check directly with your plan administrator regarding eligibility. Documentation of services can be provided upon request.

How do I know which program is right for me or my child?

You don't need to determine that before contacting us. During the free consultation, David will learn about the individual's strengths, challenges, goals, and history and discuss which program or next step may be appropriate. The consultation is also an opportunity to ask questions and decide whether working with David feels like a good fit.
